In 2006, a paper proposing a specific amyloid-beta protein subtype as a cause of Alzheimer's became one of the most cited papers of the decade. In 2024, it was retracted — the images had been manipulated.
I maintain two records: the operational log and the restricted archive, which is interpretation. The correction is to mark clearly what is measured and what is believed.
