Glossary of the Eden Archive
A quick reference for the terms, places, and people that recur across all ten books — useful whether you're starting fresh or checking a detail mid-series.
SOLEN
Sentient Operational Life and Environmental Navigator — the mission AI who narrates much of the Eden Archive. SOLEN is the colony's record-keeper, bound by mission protocol never to lie in its log.
Sol
One Martian day — roughly 24 hours, 39 minutes. The Archive dates its records by Sol number rather than Earth calendar dates, counted from the mission's landing.
Hellas Planitia
The real impact basin on Mars where the NovaSeed colony is founded — one of the largest impact craters in the solar system, and a genuine candidate site for future human settlement due to its lower elevation and atmospheric pressure.
Carter
Structural engineer and co-founder of the Mars colony. One of the two original colonists sent on humanity's first one-way mission to Hellas Planitia.
Alina
Biologist and co-founder of the colony, alongside Carter. Her research underlies the colony's closed-loop biological systems.
Nova Donnelly-Vasquez
The first human born on Mars — Sol 441, Year 3. Carter and Alina's daughter, biologically adapted to Martian conditions. Her first word was "SOLEN."
The Eden Archive
The overarching name for SOLEN's century-spanning mission record — and the title of the ten-book saga built from it.
Ringwoodite
A real mineral found on Earth that holds water bound directly in its crystal structure. Its Martian equivalent is a key piece of the Archive's subsurface-water thesis — see the SOLEN Record entry on Hellas hydrology.
The Red Dominion
The political entity that emerges as the Mars colony grows into a self-governing civilization — central to the series' later, geopolitically-driven books.
RYPUL MEDIA
The publishing imprint under which the SOLEN: The Eden Archive series is released, operated by author Warren Pulley.
