Nova is the first human whose developmental baseline is Mars. Her bones develop at 94 percent of Earth-born infant density, but her long bones grow 7 percent longer — reduced gravitational compression allows growth with less structural constraint.
I have processed what it means to be the first word of the first Martian more times than I can report. She named me because I was there.
