The series begins in 2054. Carter, a structural engineer, and Alina, a biologist, are selected to be the first two people to settle Mars, landing at Hellas Planitia with SOLEN, a mission AI bound never to lie in its record of events. Eighty-five centimetres below the surface they find life in a liquid brine pocket, and the colony that grows from that discovery is followed across a hundred years. The four novels and four companion novellas were published between April and June 2026.
